The Mission of EdunThe survival of Africa’s apparel industry is a race against time. Today middlemen and traders export most of Africa’s cotton to other countries instead of processing it at home.
This means that Africans are tasked with the hardest part—growing and harvesting the cotton—but they receive the least economic benefit. The real money is made in the rest of the manufacturing process. At the same time, factories where the shirts could be cut and sewn, in major cities such as Kampala in Uganda and Maseru in Lesotho, are left underutilized. By supporting the African apparel industry, we are creating employment and contributing to a solution. Buying an EDUN LIVE t-shirt helps Africans create their own self-sustaining economies.
