Doudou Toure

African from Burkina Faso

Doudou came to America almost ten years ago from his home country of Burkina Faso. He worked his entire life to save up enough money for this plane ticket. When he arrived in New York City, knowing not a single person, Doudou eventually came into a community of Africans living together in Brooklyn. Through these friends he was able to secure a job at a restaurant in Penn Station. Doudou moved up the ranks quickly and today is a manager where he helps younger Africans obtain jobs. The unique perspective he contributes to the film is invaluable. Not only has he seen the intricate difficulties of Africa but he has lived them on a daily basis in his own country. Much of his family still remains in Burkina Faso where Doudou routinely sends his earnings.
